why should you consider retiring in La Tigra District of Costa Rica ? if you are considering retirement full time or almost full time, you should think about new areas that are opening up in the North Central Valley of Costa Rica - and the reasons why we are here 1) - you can buy a tico house with an acre or two for around $50 000 and spend a few hundred or a few thousand dollars to upgrade it to standards you are accostomed to in the US and you will have a very acceptable retirement home for your children and / or grandchildren to visit 2) - in the North Central Valley region of Costa Rica , your property taxes will be $100 per year or less - we have 8,000 sf villa with 7 apartments on 24 acres and my total property tax bill is $140 per YEAR 3) - we have been in La Tigra for over 6 years and we have had EVERY meal - breakfast, lunch and dinner - on our open patio (a single exception the evening we caught the hurricane tail in 2008) 4) - after you get your pensionado residency , your health insurance cost will be about $50.00 per month and the health care system here in Costa Rica is very adequate because many of the physicians did their school , training and residency in the US 5) - my heating bill for the entire year 2010 was $ 0.00 - it was the same 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 6) - my air conditioning bill for last year was also $0.00 - it will be the same for next year 7) - the temperature in the La Tigra region averages 85F degrees daytime - 365 days a year and 69F degrees at night - 365 nights per year - great for sleeping under the sheets 8) - yes , we get some rain and cloud cover - thats what makes the temperature so even here - there is a chart comparitive schedule of rainfall per month averages on our website if this is an unanswered question in your mind 9) - I recently took my wife , two daughters, son-in-law and grandson to dinner at one of our local restaurants - the total bill for 6 people was 12,600 colones or about $25 10) we are a rural community and our tico neighbors are open and friendly here - we do not have the high stress, high traffic, high crime and confusion of the big city and we don't want any part of it - this is a retirement and "live in peace" area which happens to be in the center of the tourist attractions , so your friends and family have a safe place to visit The most important thing to remember is - WE ARE OBAMA PROOF with no heat or AC and low low low taxes we are just a few hours from the beaches or whatever action you may want to see or be a part of and then go "home" to your peaceful lifestyle in the La Tigra region de San Carlos that's our story, so now , take your time and look at our Real Estate website so you can find a property that will best suit your needs - then, give us a call or send an email to get the answers to your questions Saludos and pura vida from the gang at La Tigra Bob & Irina and Lindsay Denis & Olga and Andrey |
